| In the press: Poosh - can eye yoga help vision? |
|
|
Preventing signs of ageing goes well beyond our face. From supplements, to exercise and the latest gadget on the market, we're all trying to stay young from the inside out. Poosh wanted to talk to us about a new anti-ageing ritual gaining buzz in the wellness space, eye yoga.
Our Founder, Dhruvin Patel, shared his expert insights on how these daily rotations can help prevent declining vision.
“Eye yoga can strengthen eye muscles, which can limit the effects of ageing eyes and help preserve sharper vision with just five to ten minutes of daily practice. All you need to do is two eye exercises during each session. The School of Ophthalmology and Optometry at Wenzhou Medical University in China conducted research following students across three years. They found that those who did eye yoga twice a day had fewer changes in their vision and a reduced need for stronger glasses."
Exercise one: Palming When you place your palms around your eyes, you are stimulating very powerful acupuncture points that help to calm the mind, relax the muscles surrounding the eyes, and bring increased circulation of blood flow to the eyes
Exercise two: Figure eights Imagine a horizontal figure eight (the shape of an infinity symbol) approximately 10 feet in front of you. Allow your eyes to trace along the figure eight without moving your head. |

A recent study looked into the association between mobile use and physiological parameters of poor sleep quality. It also aimed to find out the prevalence of mobile-related sleep risk factors (MRSRF) and their effects on sleep in mobile users.
Findings indicated that those who used a mobile screen for 8 or more hours a day and kept their mobile near their pillow were positively associated with poor sleep quality.
Results also showed that using the mobile for at least 30 minutes (without blue light filters) after the lights have been turned off showed a positive correlation with poor sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, sleep disturbances and increased sleep latency. |
